Matamata, New Zealand
Hi, we are Ali and Alex of Bellazure Ragdolls. We are registered with New Zealand Cat Fancy with the prefix Bellazure.
Back in 2008 we decided to invest in the development of the beautiful and unique Ragdoll breed after our lives were made so much brighter when we bought our first pet Ragdoll. We realised there are only a limited number of wonderful, healthy pedigree Ragdolls available here in New Zealand so after much research and many calls into the early hours of the morning we imported our foundation Ragdolls and our journey began.
We keep our number of breeding cats to a minimum so that each gets a good amount of one on one time...there is only so much room on my lap, shoulders and chair. We have a few cats that are not breeding yet as they are still developing and will take over from a parent to add to the genetic pedigree when their time comes. We keep a maximum of 12 including our pet Ragdoll. Each kitten is born on my bed and attended by one of our family to welcome them to the world and to ensure they and their mummy deliver safely. We have very affectionate parents where by each mother will wait for us to arrive home and sit with them while they deliver...to the point they delay the delivery until we can sit with them. One sweet mummy even likes to have a paw on my hand. If I withdraw my hand she will get up and follow me until I sit and put my hand back for her to 'hold'. This bodes well for the safe arrival of their kittens and speaks for the intelligence and bonded nature of this wonderful breed. If also tells you how the kittens will become bonded and attached to their lucky families.
Our kittens then are raised underfoot with all the hustle and bustle of family life. We have 2 large dogs that are very protective of our cats and kittens so the kittens bond quickly with families that have dogs, given the best introduction for both kitten and dog...they will likely be best friends.
Our kittens will be genetically clear of PKD and HCM as we only breed from DNA tested lines.
We occasionally have show and breeding quality kittens available for registered breeders and show families.
All pet and show kittens are desexed prior to leaving and all kittens are vaccinated at 8 and 12 weeks with Tricat. They are wormed at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks completing a full worm program. We put a small drop of Advantage flea treatment on them at 8 weeks to ensure they have no reaction and a full treatment the day prior to leaving to give them a full 4 weeks of protection from fleas and mites. Each kitten is registered with NZCF and transfered intobthe name of their new owner.
